Brent Kirby has run Kurb Media since 2009. He builds software for startups and Fortune 100 companies, and he has kept the same handful of clients for ten and fifteen years by doing the thing most consultants won't: telling them when their idea is bad, even when staying quiet would have paid better.

Brent Kirby's first job taught him what happens when a company keeps selling: the new clients stack up, the old ones get less attention, and the people who were loyal start waiting months for small fixes. He built his own company to avoid it, and has kept the same handful of clients for ten and fifteen years.

with Jeremy Abel
Jeremy Abel carried a graph pad through high school, drawing specs for buildings he wanted to put up in New York City. An 11th grade drafting class taught by a burned-out retired architect talked him out of it.
